The WindPower Initiative Program
The WindPower Initiative (WPI) has launched a New York-based program which will create jobs in New York State, both directly through WPI and by encouraging manufacturers, distributors and suppliers of Distributed Wind Technology (DWT) to locate in New York.
Will be administered by WPI, in concert with its primary academic partner, the Polytechnic Institute of NYU, and allied public sector and private industry partners.
Will be focused on the development of new wind resource measurement, mapping, and modeling tools for use in urban, suburban, and densely-populated areas.
Will Establish research and testing sites at community college campuses in the Hudson Valley, New York City, and Long Island.
Will focus on state-of-the art wind turbine generators (WTGs), including vertical axis wind turbines (VAWT), and development of new computer-aided modeling tools, GIS mapping, and more.
